Private Rooms & Special Events

Whether you are looking for the perfect setting for your business meeting or a unique spot to hold a bridal shower, the club offers nine different venues to accommodate from 4 to 400 or more. Private functions can also be arranged to meet your social or entertainment needs. All with the graciousness and old world hospitality for which we are noted. Plus, we have an amazing view of downtown San Francisco from our fourth-floor balcony.

All in all, these facilities reflect the highest aspirations of the Club's founders. It provides a very special place for members to come and enjoy their social and business activities in a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle of the sometimes-frantic pace by which we are surrounded.

Library

Our library is a wonderful setting for peaceful reading, and houses a wonderful historic collection of US and California history. With a fireplace and comfortable easy chairs, this is a lovely retreat within the club. We are also able to do a variety of intimate functions in this room for members and sponsored guests. Wireless Internet access is available.

South Main Dining Room

All of our even spaces have a great deal of flexibility - and this is the perfect room for medium size functions. Connected to the main dining room by sliding doors, it can either enlarge our dining room into an "L" shape with a dance floor and bar, or it can be closed off from the dining room to be a perfect space for cocktails and a sit down dinner for smaller groups. The south main dining room can also be set up for lectures and larger meetings.

The Lounge

The center of the club revolves around the lounge on the fourth floor, where we offer a sitting room with views of the Financial District and the bay. This airy room offers daily papers as well as monthly periodicals of an intellectually stimulating nature. It can also be used as a function space for larger events. Wireless Internet access is available.

The Board Room

Our board room is the perfect setting for small private business meetings. We offer catering services as well. Wireless Internet access is available.

The Game Room

The University Club also features a comfortable and well-rounded game room. Whether your interest is in a game of billiards, bridge, dominoes or chess, the game room is ready for you. Lessons are also available for bridge on a regular basis and complimentary pool lessons a given on the second Thursday of each month by our club pool pro, Gerry Tiernan.
